Spring is here! And since Pat is healed and ready to go but nobody seems to be interrested we have decided to start her saddle training. Granted, she won't ever be very competative, but she can still make somebody a nice trail and pleasure horse. Patience as ever she lets me takec are of her coat (shedding goes a bit slower for the old guys in our barn), wash the mud off her legs and get her tack on.
Today we took her to the round pen on just a halter for some pictures, but you should see her in a saddle (more picscoming soon)!

Pat is all healed !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Finally, after trying a bunch of different gells, creams and powders something finally worked and closed the woud. Or maybe it was mother nature, who knows ;)
But, now she is healed she will be considered for adoption thoughCANTER NE.
Eventhough we will miss her when she leaves we are happy that she is ready to get a home and a family of her own!

Untill she finds that place she will stay here, in the field with her friends. She loves to play in the snow and with her new blanket she is very happy to live in the run in shed. She likes her stall too but still needs to have standing wraps on her hind legs to prevent her from stocking up overnight.

Vet-day at Pegasus! Roger was over to give her a check up and do her teeth, and even though Pat wasn’t to keen on the rasps in her mouth I am sure she will be very happy when she gets her dinner tonight and she can chew without pain!
Besides her teeth things where going well, the new gel seems to get the last little bit of wound active which I suppose is better than when it was just sitting there staying the exact same..
We (partly) switched her over to Blue Seal Vintage Senior to see if that will get her weight back up, she seems to like that just as much as any food!
Besides all that; little news, still turned out with Murphy, still ever so patience having me hanging in between her hind legs to look for little differences and waiting to finally be done with the healing process.

Finally another word from Patience ;)
Pat has been doing very well, the last little bit of the big wound is still looking better and better and all the other wounds and scratches have gone away. Her winter coat is even covering some of the scars already!
We tried turning her out with Rose again after the foal left but she latches on to her and won’t let her rest unless she is a mile away from any other horses… So now she is out with two geldings in the large pasture. She doesn’t like the white one too much but her and the black one tolerate each other around the same pile of hay so I think she is pretty happy.
We put GoldBond powder on the little leftover of her big wound every day to speed up the last part of the recovery. I think once that heals she will be put up for adoption, it’ll be strange here without her :(

Finally another update on Pat…
She has been very well; the wounds are still healing good. We had a little scare with an infection on her lower leg but it only too a day or two to get ahead of that again.
Last weekend we picked up one of her old friends, Rose. They were very very happy to see each other again and got to go out together for a couple of days. Right now they have to live separate again though, Pat panicked every time we took Rose away for exercise!
Right now everything is back to the normal peace and happiness! Pat goes out in the run in pasture during the day and flirts with her neighbor (Jazzbit) quite a bit. At night she stays in her stall, still with standing wraps and ointment on her wound on her lower leg. It looks like it is healing up better this time!
The big wound is hardly big anymore, still there though. A lot easier to clean now and it is done draining so that keeps her tail a lot cleaner ;)

Pat is still doing great, healing slowly but steadily! The vet came over today and finally took the sutures out, this makes the wounds look a lot better! I will continue the hand grazing and she is ready for some more walking too.
She is feeling good and every time the other horses get to go out she makes it very clear that she would LOVE to come along! I am glad she is starting to get a bit more attitude, she was so good it started to worry me ;)

She arrived today! Looking as good as we could expect she came out of the trailer like she knew she is going to be the queen of out barn!
I can’t believe how well behaved and friendly she is. I cleaned out her wounds, hand grazed her for 30 minutes, wrapped her hind feet and gave her the medicine she is supposed to get and all thru this procedure she was interested and well behaved.
I am very much looking forward to taking care of this lady and I hope she will have an easy recovery in our barn!
