Dressage lessons

Dressage instruction is available on our property with your horse.
I have followed the ORUN course in the Netherlands and became a qualified instructor in 2003. I have taught several pony-clubs and private lessons across the ocean and am now building a clientele base in the United States.
I have successfully shown up to 3rd level and love sharing my knowledge about training horses with motivated riders.
Dressage is a great basic training for any discipline, even trail and western horses benefit from the excercises as it works important muscles and inspires a good relationship between horse and rider.
So whether you are a beginner, an experienced trail rider or you are competing I can help you get more in tune with your horse by teaching dressage.

Please contact us to discuss a lesson plan that fits you!

Basic horse riding or vaulting

In 1930 the Germans developed vaulting exercises with the goal to introduce children to the equestrian sport and horse riding techniques. Children were able be become familiar with horses during the low cost vaulting lessons. Talented vaulters, the kids that have 'the feeling' for the horse, were selected and sponsored by the riding organization to develop their skills in the equine arts.

With this original goal: giving an inexpensive and solid basic technique along with the riders they started vaulting in the Netherlands around 1976. Children could become self confident with horses in a more affordable way by taking care of them and learning to adjust  to the rhythm of the horse in different positions. The horse is hereby centered and a relaxed and independent seat is taught at a young age.

I was introduced to horses at the age of 5 and this basic knowledge has been an important part of my journey to become a safe and successful rider.
Becasue i think this part of the equestrian education gets skipped too often I have decided to school one of our horses to become a vaulting horse. She has been doing great and is about ready to get going with her new job!

I am planning on starting with the first group of four children this spring. Lessons will include all the basics of grooming and tacking up as well as riding and the beginnings of vaulting. We will be working on this for about an hour at the time. Parents are expected to help grooming, tacking and untacking ones every four lessons (on a rotating schedule) to encourage motivation and understanding from the home front.
Eventually the groups can move on to riding in a saddle and choose their favorite discipline.

Please contact us if you would like more information about this!

Horsemanship

If you have always loved horses but you could never afford one and now you are ready to purchase, or if you have owned one for a long time but you have never had to take care of it and now you would like to keep it at home, different problems might come up. This is why we offer horsemanship lessons.
The lesson plan will be made according to the specific needs and will include things like safety around the horses/barn, feeding schedules and possibilities, purchasing fitting tack and blankets, healthcare and so on.
They can also include basic horse riding lessons in different disciplines on your horse or ours.
Of course we can offer professional help for you to find the right horse, either at our barn or anywhere in the US and Europe!

Please feel free to contact us with any questions!
