We dropped Mo off at his snew home today :( .....
But, on a happy not, the home sseems just PERFECT for him! He already bosses Haryy around (Mo the pasture king!) and everybody there is so happy with him! Nice grass paddocks and a cute little barn with some stalls in it. And nothing but woods and space and quietness around.
Check out the slide show for pics of Mo and Harry (and yes, Harry is a donkey ;)

Sheila was back today and guess what? She hopped on and rode Mo on the trails, her golden and our springer followed the two around and everybody had a great time! We are planning on moving him into his new place august first and I am sure he is going to love it there. Lots of land, another horse and a donkey to be friends with and lots of TLC. We will miss having him around but knowing he goes to such a nice place makes us feel very good!

Mo met a new friend today! A very patient woman from northern Vermont came down to see him and they just seemed to ‘click’! She will be coming down again to work with him more and if everything works out he will be moving in with her and her family (including a donkey and a golden retriever!) this August.
I will be very happy seeing him go to such a nice place but it will be hard to get used to his empty stall…

The most amazing thing happened to us (me and Mo) today!
A new vet moved into the area and he stopped by to see our barn and meet the horses (and advertise of course ;) ) And guess where he is from and what he used to do? He has 23 years of experience practicing medicine and performing surgery on thoroughbred racehorses on the racetracks of Southern California !!!
He gave Mo a FREE wellness exam and took X-rays of his knee and ankle (the joints I worried about), turns out he has healthy joint (for an ex-racer) but needs rest before returning to work. He has a fixated ankle but this should not form a problem for any future exercise. He has calcifications in his ankle and knee and his knee has a slight infection from past injections. This knee will get better with time, good nutrition and rest.
How happy and thankful I was!
I will get a disc with the x-rays and I will try to post them on this page.

Our veterinarian (Dr Roger Osinchuk)  will still be taking care of our other horses but Dr. Jeff Oney will be responsible for all out TB care!

Still doing good! He became best friends with Xena but since she needs to be with Bickford now he is back on his own for while. He loves the muddy pasture but with all the rain we have had in the past 24 hours all the horses are in their stalls. He is nice and quiet inside and I am so glad he is not the like most geldings and keeps his stall spotless!
He gained quite a bit of weight over the past few weeks and looks fit and healthy again, what a beautifull horse he is!

We have been calling Jazzbit Mo, just seems to fit him better ;)
The vet came to visit him today and gave him his spring shots and pulled a coggins. He also checked his teeth but they were fine so no need to worry about that for now. He has put on quite a bit of weight already so I decided to let him go around on a lunge line for 10 minutes. He did very well, obviously knows what the deal is with that. He trotted around calmly and couldn’t care less about the cars and trucks going by right next to him!
We are hoping the supplements help him getting back to a healthy, fit and happy horse!

Around 1 pm Jessica pulled up with her trailer bringing us her mare for Royal Blizzard and Jazzbit for us!
Jazzbit had been bought off the track last fall and somehow didn’t work out for the people that owned him over winter. They were thinking about putting him down but luckily Jessica came to help him!
Right around that time we were looking for a new addition to our farm, so that decision was a quick one. Jazz gets to stay with us to see how we work together and how he improves with good food and some supplements.
Right now he is very skinny so he will get a well deserved vacation with all the necessary pampering!
More news coming soon ;)
